As part of my mad dash about the Greek mainland, I wanted to also see the Ruins at Delphi. From Meteora and Greek Orthodox Christian monasteries I traveled on a long bus trip to Delphi and the Ruins of the Temple of Apollo there. I got there late at night and only had the morning to see the ruins.
I had seen pictures of Meteora while planning the Greece trip. I thought it was too far out to get to reasonably. Despite this, I sprung and went up to see the site. It was really awesome, and the highlight of the mainland half of my Greece trip.
Last week I showed a specific part of my stay in Santorini, the Volcano Tour, which I highly recommend by the way. This Monday I am showing off Thira, which is the main island in the cluster that we all call Santorini.
There are several towns on the island. I went to four of them. The largest seems to be Fira, where the volcano tours leave from. Oia (pronouced Ee-ya) is in the north and well known for the sunset views and windmills.Karterados was where my hotel was and there was the port where my boat left from.
As already mentioned, I actually have been traveling lately. I spent two weeks in Greece. So you will have to excuse the approaching flood of pictures and stories around Greece. I will get back into writing about the expat life after that.
The first stop on my trip was Santorini. Santorini is actually a group of islands around a very ancient volcano. If you are into this kind of thing, the best thing to do is take a boat out to the volcano and walk around on it.
